Conehatta Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Jackson, MS – On May 14, 2026, a Conehatta man was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for sexual abuse of a minor.  Additionally, once he is released, he will be placed on supervised release for an additional twenty years.According to court documents, Quindon Bailey John, 24, engaged in sexual activity with two minors under the age of sixteen.  John was indicted by a federal grand jury in February of 2024, and pleaded guilty to the charge in July of 2025.U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger and Robert Eikhoff, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Jackson Office, made the announcement.The Choctaw Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin J. Payne, Brian K. Burns, and Special Assistant United States Attorney Kalleigh McCoy.This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.  Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet as well as to identify and rescue victims.
