Northumberland County Man Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison For Production Of Child Pornography

WILLIAMSPORT – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Scott Eric Snyder, age 54, of Northumberland County, PA, was sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment followed by ten years of supervised release by Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann on a charge of production of child pornography.According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Snyder produced child sexual abuse material in July of 2012 and July of 2013 after entering the minor victim’s home at night. The victim and two members of the family addressed the Court at the sentencing hearing.In imposing the maximum sentence, Chief Judge Brann referred to the case as “one of the most heinous crimes” he has encountered during his thirteen years on the bench.The case was investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Assistant United States Attorney Alisan V. Martin prosecuted the case.This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
